Charles Sturt University
Since the commencement of their Veterinary Science program in 2005, Warrnambool Veterinary Clinic has been host to students from Charles Sturt University as they undertake their practical, clinical training in Dairy medicine.
Each year, up to 36 fourth and final year students attend placement at Warrnambool for three weeks of intensive practical experience, working alongside our experienced dairy clinicians during the busy calving and joining seasons. Students gain a practical insight into a range of clinical skills, including rectal pregnancy diagnosis, clinical examinations of cattle, assisted calvings, eye surgery, displaced abomasum diagnosis and surgery, and other essential skills for the modern mixed practice veterinary surgeon.
During their 3 week placement, students will complete case study reports based on their experiences on farm with our veterinarians. Students are encouraged to be self directed in their learning, although our vets are always on hand to provide advice.
